Chocolate Heart Cookies

1-1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
1-1/2 cup powdered sugar, sifted
1 egg
3 cups flour, sifted
1/2 cup cocoa, sifted
1/4 tsp salt


  1. Cream butter and powdered sugar
  2. Blend in egg and mix well
  3. Stir together flour, cocoa, and salt and add to butter mixture, mixing well
  4. Chill dough 1-2 hours
  5. Roll out dough to 1/4-1/8” thick and cut out with heart shapes
  6. Place on un-greased cookie sheet and bake 8-10 minutes in preheated 400° oven
  7. Cool and drizzle chocolate over or frost completely

Drizzle:  Use 2-3 Tbsp melted bittersweet or white chocolate or both
