W3 Book Club-“Midnight at the Masquerade”: A Virtual Murder Party

by Teri E. Popp, Tastemaker in Residence and Jean Echtenkamp

Our host, Jean, invited us to participate in quite the treat when she set up a murder mystery party through the Murder Mystery Company (see MMC https://www.murdermysteryco.com/zoom-parties/); so we all dressed up in our finest attire to play our parts for the virtual spectacle!

We all knew a general description of our parts in advance, but we learned the specific details as our personal Professional Mystery Detective led us through the minutiae and investigated the murder.

Our host sent out the following before our evening of murder and mayhem: “WANTED: SLEUTHS TO HELP THE W3 BOOK CLUB SOLVE A MURDER AT THE BILLIONAIRE MASQUERADE BALL. Each participant has been assigned a unique character who has a part in solving the murder, either as a suspect or witness. This multimedia ZOOM event is guided by a host and includes videos of evidence and crime scenes. Interrogation Break-Out rooms are available for further investigation of the clues. You received an email with everything you need to know about your character. The event begins with an introduction by the host who will take any questions you may have. We then proceed with (3) 30 minute acts and (2) 15 minute investigation break out rooms. (potty breaks) Come dressed in character and remain in character throughout. Create a virtual/real backdrop to enhance your characters image. HAVE A KILLER OF AN EVENING.” —Murder Mystery Company.

And a killer of an evening was enjoyed by all!!
