Teri's Travels Dubai - Day 2

by Teri E. Popp, Tastemaker in Residence

Once done touring the Mall, we moved on to a bus and boat tour through more of the city. While the bus offered five separate tours, we were only in town for 2 days; therefore, we opted to narrow are destinations.

We stayed on the bus for a ride on the Palm Island: Palm Jumeirah. From the air, you can see that this man-made island is shaped like a palm tree topped by a crescent. Home to Dubai's Atlantas Resort, as well as many other hotels, homes, and condos, the island is also accessible by car and monorail (yet another nod to Disneyworld).

We then boarded a boat to view both the Marina District and the Downtown of Dubai. Primarily consisting of skyscrapers and yacht marinas, this area is prime real estate for residential living in Dubai. Our boat gave us another view of Palm Jumeirah, this time by sea, and the Burj al Arab Hotel--our hotel for our final night stay in Dubai.

Shaped like a large sail, and located on it's own island out in the Persian Gulf, the Burj al Arab is the third tallest hotel in the world. With a commanding view of both the Marina District and Downtown Dubai, it was definitely the place where we wanted to eat dinner and enjoy after dinner drinks. The al Arab is a destination all on its own!

We so enjoyed our time in Dubai, we look forward to another visit in the future!!!
