Thin Bar-B-Cue Sauce Recipe

I am not a fan of treacle sweet, tomato pasty BBQ sauce.

I like thin and tangy sauce that I put on the BBQ meat after it is slow cooked for 4-6 hours.

The following is my version of Carolina BBQ sauce.


1 T. molasses
3 T. ketchup 
1 T. Tabasco sauce 
1 t. smoked paprika 
3 T. dark brown sugar
1 t. fresh ground black pepper 
1 t. smoked sea salt
2 c. apple cider vinegar …from the refrigerated section

1. In a non-reactive pan:  put all ingredients in and bring to a slow boil.

2. Stir occasionally to dissolve the salt and sugar.

3. Take from the heat source and cool.

4. When room temp; put in jar and store in fridge at least 24 hours before using.
