Cremini Mushroom Sauce Recipe

2 Tbsp  olive oil
2 Tbsp  butter
1 cup onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
8  oz cremini mushroom caps, roughly chopped
1/4 cup dry white wine
3/4 cup sour cream
salt and pepper to taste
3 Tbsp chopped chives


  1. Heat olive oil and butter in medium sauté pan
  2. Saute onions until tender
  3. Add garlic and stir constantly for a minute
  4. Add mushrooms, stir for a minute and add wine
  5. Reduce wine to about 1Tbsp, reduce heat
  6. Add about 1/2 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp pepper, more to taste
  7. Gently stir in sour cream until well mixed, add chives
  8. Serve with grilled steak.  
  9. If there is any extra juice from the steaks, add to the mushroom sauce for additional great flavor.
