W3 Book Club-“The Karaoke Singer’s Guide to Self Defense” by Tim Kinsella
DISCLAIMER: I am definitely not recommending that you read this book!!!
I don’t usually start a book club article with a disclaimer recommending that you not read the monthly, highlighted book. Actually, I’ve never done that before. And, I usually adhere to the thought that, if you don’t have something nice to say, just don’t say anything. However, we don’t always like the book we’ve chosen for our monthly book club reading. But, we ALWAYS love a good theme.
And so it goes with “The Karaoke Singer’s Guide to Self Defense.” While the book was difficult reading, the theme was incredibly fun. Laura C. opted to host W3 at Punch Bowl Social in order to take advantage of their karaoke singing pods (remade metal rooms from an old container ship)! Incredible acoustics aside (it sounds like singing in the shower on steroids), the ladies loved hamming it up with the microphone for 3 1/2 hours (we were originally set up for a 2 hour slot, but kept adding on time because we were having so much fun!).
We started the evening in The Library, a section of Punch Bowl Social that leant itself well to group photos for a book club. Laura ordered appetizers for all to share, including:
- Li’l Street Tacos
- It’s Nacho Mama’s
- Traditional Chicken Wings
- Sriracha Peanut Fries
- Hugh’s Pimento Cheese
- Black-eyed Pea Hummus
- Chicken and Waffles
We then proceeded to dance and sing the night away, ending the evening with a featured Punch Bowl!! And thanks go to Laura for the perfect book club theme party!!
