Life’s Detox

by Zehorit Heilicher, Tastemaker in Residence

Editorial comment from Cindi SutterFounder & Editor of Spirited Table®

"For four years I've been the grateful recipient of articles from Zehorit and the rest of this fabulous group of Tastemakers; so I've pretty much read and edited just about everything! Then bam, in this overcrowded air of writing for the internet, every now and again something so perfectly written, said and thought out, tugs at my heart strings and begs me to never forget...Oh yea, this is precisely why I began this Spirited Table® journey." Thanks Zehorit.

“We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.” Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

It is January; the month for new diets, the latest detox and resolutions. We want to be healthier, slimmer, fitter, and most of us are pretty much on board with that, right? So, yes, bring on the daily walks, fresh fruit, delicious soups and hearty salads and let’s nourish our bodies properly.

However, have we paused to consider the full picture here? How can our mental, emotional wellbeing benefit from a detox? What can we challenge in our lives to bring more calm, kindness to self and others into our daily experience? What can we abstain from and what can we introduce into our lives the benefit the quality of our life?

Consider personal goals for this year, thinking beyond the physical. Let’s nourish our spirit and deepen our connection and understanding to self and others.

Some wise words to consider:

“Make your own Bible. Select and collect all the words and sentences that in all your readings have been to you like the blast of a trumpet.”  Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Forgive the past. It is over. Learn from it and let go. People are constantly changing and growing. Do not cling to a limited, disconnected, negative image of a person in the past. See that person now. Your relationship is always alive and changing.”  Brian L. WeissMessages from the Masters: Tapping into the Power of Love

“We are all connected; To each other, biologically. To the earth, chemically. To the rest of the universe atomically.”  Neil deGrasse Tyson
