Although Mint Juleps are famous at Churchill Downs, these crisp drinks are just as delicious on a shoreline at sunset. The heavenly mix of bourbon, sugar, and fresh sprigs of mint makes for a refreshing sipper—no horses necessary.
Serves 1

Ingredients
1 small fresh mint sprig
1 Tbsp (1⁄2 oz.) Mint Simple Syrup (p. 17 Beach Cocktails)
2 Tbsp (1 oz.) bourbon
Garnishes: powdered sugar, fresh mint sprig

Instructions

  1. Muddle the mint sprig and syrup in the bottom and against the sides of a chilled julep cup to extract the oils.
  2. Fill cup with crushed ice, and top off with bourbon. Garnish, if desired.

Cook’s Note

  1. Cucumber mint julep: Muddle a thin ribbon of cucumber with mint sprig, and use equal parts Cucumber Simple Syrup (p. 19 Beach Cocktails) and Mint Simple Syrup
