All About Ice Cream!

One of summer’s hottest food trends for 2016 is, wait for it…  ice cream. Last year brought a huge increase in new diet trends and an emphasis on whole, healthy foods leaving this staple treat to fall by the wayside. While many people choose to forego desserts during swimsuit season, we say GO FOR THEM. Embrace your sweet tooth. Feast your taste buds and your tummy. Let yourself indulge, guilt-free in this once-guilty pleasure. To help you out we have created a delicious (and maybe not all that nutritious) couple of recipes to kick start your summer. 

Cookies n’ Cream Overload Ice Cream Sandwich

Ingredients
4 oz. cream cheese
1 stick unsalted butter
½ tsp vanilla extract
½ tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 egg
1 cup brown sugar
¼ cup milk
1 cup milk chocolate chips
1.5 cups chopped cookies and cream cookies

Instructions

  1. Mix cream cheese, butter, and egg
  2. Add brown sugar
  3. Add remaining dry ingredients and mix until well combined
  4. Add milk chocolate chips and crushed oreos
  5. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and preheat oven to 350
  6. Roll cookies into 1 inch balls
  7. Bake for 8 minutes (if not ready, bake for 2 more minutes) 
  8. Leave cookies to cool on cooling rack
  9. once cookies are cool, place a small scoop of cookies and cream ice cream between two cookies (do the same for all remaining cookies. We recommend Three Twins Cookies and Cream Ice Cream
  10. place in the freezer overnight

Ice Cream Pie

Ingredients
1 gallon vanilla ice cream (we like Haagen Dazs vanilla bean)
3 sleeves Nabisco famous chocolate wafers
1 stick butter
1 jar hot fudge
1 pint strawberries
Whipped cream 

Instructions

  1. Leave ice cream on counter to soften
  2. Melt butter
  3. Blend Nabisco famous chocolate wafers in food processer until fine
  4. Mix butter and wafers in mixing bowl
  5. Firmly press butter and wafer mix into the bottom and up the sides of a 9 inch pie pan
  6. Add ice cream and smooth into pan
  7. Spread hot fudge sauce on top of ice cream
  8. Freeze overnight
  9.  Serve with fresh strawberries and whipped cream


Simple Ice Cream Sundae
1 pint Talenti Roman Raspberry gelato
1 bag dark chocolate chips
1 bag shredded, unsweetened coconut
1 can whipped cream
1 container pirouette cookies
1 container fresh raspberries

Instructions

  1. Scoop 1 serving of Talenti gelato into a bowl
  2. Sprinkle with chocolate chips, coconut, and raspberries
  3. Top with whipped cream and a pirouette cookie
