Holiday Christmas Tree Style!
by Kevin P. Quinn, Tastemaker in Residence
Greetings! I am a firm believer that there is a little “christmas tree decorator” in all of us. The memories and traditions associated with decorating our holiday trees are legendary. From topping the tree with a star or angel to color coordinating ornaments and lights, we all have our memories and ideas to share.
I’d like to share some of my thoughts on tree decorating and the clever approach we can all take to making our homes look festive and styled!
Flocked Christmas Tree:
I’ll start with my favorite tradition. A white, flocked holiday tree. Pure, simple and elegant.
My mother always relished a flocked christmas tree and the sight of such a beautiful tree always takes me back to my youth.
White is the PERFECT backdrop for colored ribbon and dynamic ornaments.
But did you know that flocked trees come in vibrant colors too? You bet your jolly ol saint nick they do! Have fun and make 2013 the most colorful christmas tree year ever!
A Christmas Tree of another sort
Who says it has to be a physical tree? How about a creative tree form that showcases colors and forms into a 3 dimensional art installation? Here are 2 examples of my favorite “non-tree” christmas trees!
Or this FANTASTIC wall installation!
I know, how crazy-lazy this may seem. But let’s at least acknowledge that this tree is better than an empty corner in your living room. Have fun with the idea and remember that your pop-up tree can be the white elephant gift at your next holiday soiree.
Alternative Christmas Tree Stand(s)
I tried this idea a few years back and LOVED it. Watering the tree was a breeze and I loved how high the tree stood up in its planter. Our imaginations are the playground for our Christmas decorating minds!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all and thanks for visiting with us at The Spirited Table®!
