Back Story: Minnesota Heritage Cookbook

By Sue ZelicksonTastemaker in Residence

The American Cancer Society (ACS) wanted to produce a cookbook to raise money and asked me to create a committee to do so. We decided to send out a form to all the divisions of the ACS across the state of Minnesota to ask the staff, volunteers and family members to send in their favorite recipes. Specifically targeting "their heritage recipes," so they could be preserved throughout the years. Thus the name: Minnesota Heritage Cookbook. Subtitled-Hand me down recipes.

After the success of the first cookbook a second one was requested. We named it; Look What's Cooking Now. Similar recipes with healthier ingredients.

To date these books raised over half a million dollars for the ACS.
